That sweet transvestite from outer-space is taking over the Westwego Performing Arts Theatre just in time for Halloween. Richard O'Brien's THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW is ALIVE! will play October 23-November 7, 2009 at the Westwego Performing Arts Theatre.

Bursting at the seams with timeless cult classics including Sweet Transvestite, Dammit Janet, and of course, the pelvic-thrusting Time Warp, the JPAS production of Richard O'Brien's the ROCKY HORROR SHOW is advertised to be a non-stop party. The production is directed by Jerry Lee Leighton and musically directed by Alan Payne. Lighting design is by Diane Bass, sound design is by Jerry Lee Leighton, costume design is by Kelly James-Penot, and techincal direction/scenic/props is by Kyle Crose. The stage manager is Andrea Watson.

Richard Hutton stars as the infamous Dr. Frank 'N Furter, the "sweet transvestite from Tran-sexual-Transylvania." Hutton transitions from recently playing the role of King Arthur in Lerner and Lowe's CAMELOT at Rivertown Repertory Theatre, into the high-heeled and fishnet stockings of Dr. Frank 'N Furter for THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW with JPAS. Hutton has been seen as the leading man on stages throughout the Big Easy including Tulane Summer Lyric, Le Petit Theatre and on the JPAS stages.

Dr. Frank 'N Furter's motley crew of characters from another dimension include an array of the best New Orleans local talent. Lara Grice, one of New Orlean's most talented and versatile leading ladies, plays the outrageous Columbia. Grice has graced most all of the stages in the New Orleans area portraying roles ranging from the ditzy Norma in VICTOR/VICORIA to Jaque in Shakespear's AS YOU LIKE IT. She is often seen in local and national TV commercials. Chris Wecklein joins the cast of ROCKY as Riff Raff, the shifty hunch-backed "butler." Wecklein has also been seen on most stages throughout the New Orleans area and notable in the long-running production of BLACK AND WHITE BLUES at Le Chat Noir. This power-house cast features several other local theatre stars including Marlene Thian as Magenta, Matias Grau, III as Brad and Lucy Faust as Janet, Armando L. Leduc as Eddie and Brandon Sutton as Rocky. The cast also features Daniel Deshazo, Samantha Gregory, Michael Indest, Diana Macera, Helen Jane Planchet, Colleen Robinson and Matt Standley. Director Jerry Lee Leighton also makes a guest appearance as The Narrator in this cult-classic musical.

Performances are Fridays at 7:30PM and Saturdays at 7:30PM and 10:30PM. Costumes of all kinds at all performances are encouraged. Tickets are $30 for adults, $27 for seniors (65+) and $20 for students. WARNING! This show has rude parts! No child tickets will be sold due to the nature of the show - parental discretion is strongly advised. For tickets, call 504-885-2000 or visit www.jpas.org.
