JPAS Theatre Kids! Hosts Competition Team Auditions 8/6
The Award-Winning JPAS Theatre Kids! Competition Team * is seeking talented young singers/dancers in grades 2-12 to join them in competing at the 2012 iTheatrics Musical Theatre Festival. Auditions will be held Saturday August 6, 2011 at the Westwego Performing Arts Theatre (177 Sala Avenue in Westwego). AUDITIONS ARE BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. To sign up for an audition slot, call 504-885-2000 x202 beginning Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at 10am.
Singers must schedule a 5-minute audition slot from 9AM-12noon. Singers should bring sheet music in the appropriate key and prepare 32 bars of an uptempo musical theatre song and 32 bars of a musical theatre ballad. An accompanist will be provided. Singers and dancers who sing must call to sign up for a group dance audition also held August 6 at 1:45pm (Please arrive to the theatre no later than 1:15pm).Callbacks will be held Sunday August 7, 2011.
*Please note, there is a minimum fee of $240 to participate in this program in addition to travel expenses associated with the festival competition. Competition Team is an intensive program that focuses on performance in a musical and teamwork. It prepares young actors to compete as a team at the annual iTheatrics Junior Theatre Festival. Members of the team study and prepare an abridged version of an MTI Junior Musical and compete against other youth theatre groups from all over the nation. 2011 was the first year JPAS Theatre Kids! Competed in the festival and JPAS is looking forward to participating again annually!
