American Mariachi is a heartfelt comedy about two cousins, Lucha and Boli, on a mission to form an all-girl mariachi band in the 1970s, despite facing familial disapproval and societal norms. Directed by James Vásquez, who previously helmed the world premiere of the show, this production highlights themes of community, tradition, and the transformative power of music. With an engaging storyline crafted by José Cruz González and musical arrangements by Cynthia Reiles Flores, the production promises a celebration of culture and creativity. Set to run at Two River Theater from September 28 to October 20, 2024, it invites audiences to join in the joyous exploration of dreams and determination.
