YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN Makes its Debut at NJ's Washington Crossing Open Air Theatre on July 19

By:

A classic Mel Brooks movie comes ALIVE when the musical comedy, Young Frankenstein makes its debut at Titusville, NJ's Washington Crossing Open Air Theatre. Set for a three week run, Young Frankenstein will begin on Friday, July 19 and continue through Sunday, August 4. Performances are Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 7:30 pm.

A monstrously good time is in store with this spectacular stage production, winner of the 2008 Outer Critics Circle Award and the Broadway.com Audience Award for best musical. This production includes all of your favorite moments from the classic film, plus brand-new, show-stopping numbers for the stage, including "Transylvania Mania," "He Vas My Boyfriend" and "Puttin' on the Ritz."

This wickedly inspired re-imagining of the Frankenstein legend follows bright young Dr. Frankenstein (that's Fronkensteen) as he attempts to create a monster -- but not without scary and hilarious complications. The brain behind the laughter belongs to Mel Brooks, the mad genius and three-time Tony winner who wrote the music and lyrics and co-wrote the book-along with his record-breaking team from "The Producers"; five-time Tony-winning director and choreographer Susan Stroman and three-time Tony-winning writer Thomas Meehan. The musical contains some mild language and risque humor.

The cast of Young Frankenstein includes several actors who have become favorites of Open Air Theatre audiences. Lambertville, NJ's husband and wife acting team, David and Jenny Whiteman, who opened the 2013 season as the leads in The Drowsy Chaperone will headline this cast. David plays the monster while Jenny will portray Frau Blucher, the role made famous in the movie by Cloris Leachman. Igor, the doctor's hunchbacked assistant, will be played by JorDan Brennan while the role of Dr. Frankenstein will be taken on by Louis Palena who recently completed the Open Air Theatre run of Crazy for You where he played Bobby Child.

The Washington Crossing Open Air Theatre production of Young Frankenstein will be performed on Friday, July 19, Saturday, July 20 and Sunday, July 21 at 7:30. The musical comedy returns for two more weekends of performances on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 7:30, through August 4. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children (ages 12 and under). Tickets can always be purchased at the Open Air Theatre Box Office prior to the performance. Group discounts are available.
