Thurnauer School of Music Piano Department to Debut at Steinway Hall 5/11

The JCC Thurnauer School of Music, named a 2011 Major Arts Institution by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, is pleased to announce the debut recital of its piano department in the rotunda of Steinway Hall (109 West 57th Street) in New York City. The performance will take place Wednesday, May 11 at 6:30 p.m. and will feature some of the school's most accomplished piano students of all ages performing a diverse selection of works.

Students selected by the faculty to perform will be announced on Monday, May 2.

A preview performance will take place Sunday, May 8 at 4:00 p.m. at the music school's Eric Brown Theater. The Thurnauer School of Music is part of the Kaplen JCC on the Palisades, located at 411 East Clinton Avenue in Tenafly, N.J. Suggested donation is $10.

The JCC Thurnauer School of Music, New Jersey's leading community music school, has been designated a Major Arts Institution by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts.

About Steinway Hall

Located in the heart of midtown Manhattan, Steinway Hall is the legendary flagship store of Steinway & Sons. Since opening in 1925, it has been a landMark Destination, imbued with a rich history and tradition, eagerly sought out by music enthusiasts, piano students and professionals throughout the world. The two-story rotunda is the centerpiece of the hall. Its 35-foot domed ceiling was hand-painted by Paul Arndt with allegorical scenes depicting the influence of music on human relations. The walls are adorned with fluTEd White Italian marble columns alternating with green pilasters of polished Greek marble. Descending from the ceiling is a 19th century Viennese crystal chandelier.
