Musicians Foundation, the over-a-century-old nonprofit organization that provides financial assistance to artists in need, proudly announces its 2018 Tin Pan Alley Celebration Fundraising Recital, scheduled to take place on April 4 from 6:00 pm to 9:00pm at Yamaha Artist Services Piano Salon, located at 689 5th Avenue in Midtown Manhattan. The evening will feature a performance by acclaimed classical and ragtime pianist Richard Dowling with accompaniment by cabaret and stage vocalist Seth Sykes. The duet will play the music of great Tin Pan Alley composers, including George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, Scott Joplin and Jerome Kern. Light refreshments and drinks will be served throughout the evening.

Founded in 1914, Musicians Foundation is the country's oldest independent nonprofit organization dedicated to providing financial assistance to musicians and their families in times of need, crisis or transition. Since its inception, Musicians Foundation has provided nation-wide support to thousands of musicians across all genres, offering the support necessary for them to weather financial difficulties and personal setbacks with dignity and security. Funds raised through concerts, events, bequests, and individual donations have enabled Musicians Foundation to spend over a century giving back to the artists who make the music. Musicians Foundation is proud to count Bruce Langhorne, Brooks Kerr and Jimmy Scott among the many artists who they have served.

Musicians Foundation is committed to the singular mission of providing critical and life-changing financial assistance to professionals in the music industry. We don't incur costs running other programs or services. Giving musicians the funds they need to pursue their art is all that we do, and we do it extremely well. With the exception of gifts to the endowment, 100% of donations made to the Musicians Foundation go directly to helping the artists we serve.

Money raised from tickets to this benefit event will directly benefit Musicians Foundation assistance. Tickets are $150 for a single or $250 for a pair and may be reserved by calling 212-239-9137 or by filling out and returning this form via email.

Richard Dowling: Website Hailed by The New York Times as an especially impressive fine pianist, Richard Dowling appears regularly across the United States in solo recitals, at chamber music and jazz/ragtime festivals, and as a guest soloist in concerto performances with orchestras. He has been acclaimed by audiences for his elegant and exciting style of playing which earns him frequent return engagements. Career highlights include a sold-out New York orchestral debut at Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall, solo recitals at Carnegie's Weill Recital Hall in New York, and a special award from the National Federation of Music Clubs recognizing his outstanding performances of American music. Works of Chopin, Ravel, Gershwin, Gottschalk and ragtime figure prominently in his repertoire. On April 1, 2017 Mr. Dowling performed the complete piano works of the renowned American ragtime composer Scott Joplin in two historic sold-out recitals at Carnegie Hall, exactly 100 years to the day Joplin died in New York. He is the first pianist to perform the complete cycle of Joplin's 53 rags, marches, waltzes and cakewalks in public. Throughout 2017 & 2018 Mr. Dowling will perform over 70 all-Joplin recitals nationwide in commemoration of the centennial of Joplin's death and the sesquicentennial of his birth. Rivermont Records recently released his Grammy-nominated 3-CD set, The Complete Piano Works of Scott Joplin. Mr. Dowling is a Steinway Artist.

Seth Sikes, whom The New York Times called "a hit with audiences and critics," regularly performs his nightclub acts for sold-out houses at Feinstein's 54 Below. His debut show, "Seth Sikes Sings Judy Garland," was awarded Broadway World's Best Tribute Show Award. The show, which was performed with a seven-piece band was not an impersonation, but a heartfelt tribute to the legend and her music, interwoven with his own autobiographical story about growing up as a young boy listening to her music in the small town of Paris, Texas. The revue received unanimous raves, including one from Rex Reed in The New York Observer, who said, "there's no telling how far Seth Sikes will go." Sikes unique interest in singing standards with a contemporary feel sets him apart from other nightclub singers of his generation. Before becoming one of New York's most talked-about nightclub singers, Sikes worked behind the scenes as the Associate Director on shows including The Nance and The Band's Visit, currently a hit production on Broadway.
