The Improvised Shakespeare Co. Comes to SOPAC 2/24 at 8 p.m.

By:

Witness The Improvised Shakespeare Co. create a fully improvised Shakespearean masterpiece right before your very eyes at SOPAC on February 24 at 8 p.m.! In the unpredictably hilarious fashion of improvised comedy, the audience provides The Improvised Shakespeare Co. with suggestions for the title of a play that has yet to be written, let alone performed out loud!

Each of the players has brushed up on his "thee's" and his "thou's" to bring you an evening of off-the-cuff comedy using the language and the themes of the immortal bard, William Shakespeare. Nothing has been planned out, rehearsed, or written. All of the dialogue you will see on stage is spoken for the first time, the characters are created as you watch, and if every you're wondering where the story is going...so are the players! TimeOut Chicago calls it "smart, sophisticated, downright hilarious." The night could reveal a tragedy, comedy, or history. Each performance is completely improvised and entirely new!

The Improvised Shakespeare Company, has been performing its critically-acclaimed show to sold out audiences in Chicago since 2005. The troupe has been featured at the Piccolo Spoleto Fringe Festival, Off Broadway in New York City, Bonnaroo, the Bumbershoot Music and Arts Festival, Outside Lands, San Francisco Sketchfest, UCB's Del Close Marathon, and the prestigious Just For Laughs festival in Montreal and Chicago. They have been named Chicago's best improv group by both the Chicago Reader and the Chicago Examiner and has received numerous awards in L.A. (Best of L.A.-L.A. Weekly), New York (New York Nightlife Awards), and Chicago (The Chicago Improv Foundation).

See The Improvised Shakespeare Co. perform on February 24 at 8 p.m. Tickets to see The Improvised Shakespeare Co. are $28-38 and can be purchased online at SOPACnow.org, or by calling the box office at (973) 313-2787.
