The Barn Theatre Presents GOD OF CARNAGE, Beginning 3/15
The Barn Theatre stages the fourth production of its 85th Anniversary Season with the Tony Award-winning comedy God of Carnage, written by Yasmina Reza (translation by Christopher Hampton) and directed by Jeff Knapp of Randolph.
Set in a gentrified section of Brooklyn, God of Carnage starts simply enough: one kid knocks another kid's two front teeth out with a stick. It ends with their parents at odds trying to come to grips with the events of the day as much as their own place in it and inflicting just as much carnage upon each other, though none of it, in this case, is physical. Their meeting starts like an easy superficial domestic comedy, but later (with the aid of some rum) veers into a darkly comedic territory where harsh truths are revealed, principles are questioned and who is going to clean up the mess?
God of Carnage features Tom Morrissey (of Lincoln Park) and Corinne DiGiacinto (of Ringwood) as Alan and Annette Raleigh, and Jonathan Rudolph (of Parsippany) and Lauri MacMillan (of Dover) as Michael and Veronica Novak.
Performances start March 15, 2013 and runs through April 7. Evening performances are at 8:00pm on March 15, 23, 29, 30 and April 5 & 6; matinee performances will be at 2:00pm on March 16, 17, 24 and April 7 (please note: there is NO performance on Sunday March 31). The Barn Theatre's first production was the play Ice-Bound in 1928, performed at the State Theatre in Boonton. One of New Jersey's oldest continuously operating community theatres, The Barn Theatre has been producing quality theatrical productions for 85 seasons and counting (the past 46 season from its current home on Skyline Drive in Montville), all while utilizing all-volunteer casts, crews and administration.
