TTC Celebrates The Black Girl on Broadway During Cabaret Series 3/11-12
Part of the Cabaret Series, The Theater Company of Hoboken (TTC) presents an evening of song March 11-12, 2011 at 8pm called THE BLACK GIRL ON BROADWAY, which takes a look at the great roles originated by Black women.
THE BLACK GIRL ON BROADWAY was originally presented as a co-production with the Attic Ensemble in August 2009. Due to its popularity, TTC decided to expand and restage the production, including a narrator to help explain what roles were available to Black women on Broadway 80
years ago and how that has changed through time.
Performed by Mimi Francis, Margaret Leone, and Judith Moss, shows represented include: PORGY AND BESS, CABIN IN THE SKY, ST. LOUIS WOMAN, SHOWBOAT, HOUSE OF FLOWERS, JAMAICA, NO STRINGS, HALLELUJAH BABY, HAIR, THE WIZ, PURLIE, THE COLOR PURPLE, DREAMGIRLS, JELLY'S LAST JAM, and many more. The production will be held in cabaret format and refreshments will be included in the admission price.
