Stage Scene & Song Performing Arts (3sPA), the award-winning 501(c)(3) non-profit Bergen County youth theater company celebrating its 5th Anniversary, is proud to present its annual Summer Youth Theater Collaborative production of Thoroughly Modern Millie, with book by Richard Morris and Dick Scanlan, and new music by Jeanine Tesori and new lyrics by Dick Scanlan. Thoroughly Modern Millie won six Tony Awards, including Best Musical, in 2002, and is based on the 1967 Academy Award-winning film.

The show takes you back to the height of the Jazz Age in New York City, when "moderns," including a young flapper named Millie Dillmount (played by Kiley Rose Burke-Perez - Hillsdale), were bobbing their hair, raising their hemlines, entering the workforce and rewriting the rules of love. This high-spirited musical romp is a delightful valentine to the long-standing spirit of New York City and the people who seek to discover themselves there.

3sPA's Summer Youth Theater Collaborative is a thrilling, full-time, 4-week program offering children ages 12 and up the chance to participate in rigorous theatrical training. Musical direction by Vicki Casella (Closter) and Argine Safari (acclaimed Choir Director at Pascack Valley HS) is extremely rigorous while intensive direction by Ellyn Essig (River Vale) includes top staging and character development instruction which offers performance breakthroughs that participants will not soon forget. First-rate choreography by Vittoria Fronte (Hillsdale) in this dance intensive production offers experienced and novice dancers unsurpassed training. The beautiful set and lighting design is made possible by Gerard Boucier (Hillsdale) and the Producer of Thoroughly Modern Millie is Frank Avellino (Hackensack).

3sPA's multi talented performers hail from 10 towns throughout Bergen County and represent area schools including Bergen Academies, Holdrum School, George White Middle Schools, Park Ridge H.S., Cavillini Middle School, Northern Highlands H.S. and Pascack Valley H.S.. These young actors are backed by a supportive team of college and high-school-aged interns as well as professional productionstaff from Bergen and Passaic Counties.

Performances are Friday, August 4 and Saturday, August 5 at 7pm, and Sunday, August 6 at 1pm at Pascack Valley High School, 200 Piermont Avenue, Hillsdale, NJ.
