Music is personally such an important factor in my life, I don't even know if I could live without it. So how did music even become such a big part of my life anyway? It all started when I was 7, I saw Rogers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella on Broadway and my views were forever changed. It's almost like I could feel like music in my heart, a connection developing to the words on stage. The glorious voices in front of me were magic to my little brain, and from then on the love for theatre and music in general stuck. I've since been to over 30 Broadway shows. It truly struck me hearing the music live, and seeing the amazing singer right before me. Being able to have it with me whenever, wherever is truly a gift. Broadway helped me continue my love of music with other artists such as Harry Styles, Taylor Swift, etc.

Music has also become a healthy coping skill for me. Since it has such a strong grasp on my emotions, if I'm in a sad mood, I can play a few of my happy songs and my mood instantly swings happier, or sometimes when I just need to cry, I throw on the sad playlist. Music is also a great source of getting energy out, dancing around to it when a lot is going on. Also, music adds to memories, and hearing certain songs reminds me of different things. I struggle with ADHD, and listening to songs helps to spark my memory and remind me of things I've done or places I've been. For example, when I listen to the Music Man overture, I remember the excitement of getting to bring my friend and share the joy of one of my favorite shows with her. Overall, there are countless positive effects of music, which are extremely important to me and make every day just a bit better.
