Singer Darlene Love to Perform at BergenPAC, 12/17

By:

The wonderfully expressive Darlene Love will be performing live at the Bergen Performing Arts Center on Saturday, December 17th at 8P.M. Proclaimed by the Rolling Stones as "one of the greatest singers of all times, while the New York Times declared that her "thunderbolt voice is as embedded in the history of rock and roll as Eric Clapton's guitar or Bob Dylan's lyrics," Darlene Love has undoubtedly made her mark in the entertainment industry. Tickets are $79, $59, $45, $35

Darlene Love began singing with her local church choir in Hawthorne, California. While still in high school, she began her career as lead singer with the vocal trio in a local girl group named The Blossoms, and in 1962 began working with producer Phil Spector. The Blossoms landed a weekly part on Shindig!, one of the top music shows of the era. They also landed the roles as back up singers for the highly acclaimed Elvis Presley's '68 Comeback Special, which aired on NBC.

With her powerful, distinct voice she was soon a highly sought-after vocalist and continued her career by working with many legends of 1950s and 1960s rock and soul, including Sam Cooke, Dionne Warwick, The Beach Boys, Elvis Presley, Tom Jones and Sonny and Cher. Love has performed in a variety of Broadway productions. She acted and sang in America's well-known musical Grease, a creative musical adaptation of Stephen King's Carrie, and starred as Motormouth Maybelle in Broadway's Hairspray from August 2005 till April 2008.
Recently inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on March 14, 2011, Darlene Love will continue to please audiences across the globe so don't miss your chance LIVE at the bergenPAC!
