Ryan Silverman to Headline PSO POPS! Concert

Drama Desk Award nominee Ryan Silverman headlines the Princeton Symphony Orchestra's (PSO) January 26 Saturday Evening POPS! concert at 8pm in historic Richardson Auditorium on the campus of Princeton University. A baritenor, Mr. Silverman sings cabaret favorites once performed by the likes of Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett. His song list includes "That's Life," "Besame Mucho," "Come Back to Me," "Luck Be a Lady," "So in Love," "Feeling Good," and "Birth of the Blues." The orchestra gets the spotlight with George and Ira Gershwin's Crazy for You Overture and a Duke Ellington collection. Conductor Michelle Merrill takes over the PSO podium for this single night of show-stopping music of Broadway and jazz club standards.
Ryan Silverman received a Best Actor Drama Desk nomination for Side Show on Broadway. Other Broadway credits include star turns as Billy Flynn in Chicago, Raoul in The Phantom of the Opera, and Cry-Baby. Other credits: Passion (Drama Desk and Drama League nominations), Into the Woods (MUNY), Camelot alongside Brian Stokes Mitchell (Kennedy Center), West Side Story (Olivier nominated production). Concert performances with: The New York Pops (Carnegie Hall), Seattle Symphony with Marvin Hamlisch, Philadelphia Orchestra, Philly Pops, The Cincinnati Pops, Houston Symphony, and Detroit Symphony among others.
MICHELLE MERRILL is the newly appointed music director of the Coastal Symphony of Georgia, having just completed four years as the associate conductor of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, where she also carried the title of Phillip and Lauren Fisher Community Ambassador. A passionate and dynamic artist, she was named as one of Hour Detroit Magazine's 3 Cultural Organization Leaders to Watch in 2015, and was profiled by the Ford Motor Co. for their website. Ms. Merrill is a proud recipient of a 2016 Solti Foundation U.S. Career Assistance Award as well as the prestigious 2013 Ansbacher Conducting Fellowship.
