Playwrights Theatre Holds Broadway Showcase Informational Meetin Today, 6/12

The Madison Department of Recreation, in partnership with Playwrights Theatre will produce a Broadway showcase in August 2012. An informational meeting will be held today, June 12, 2012, 4pm at Playwrights Theatre administrative offices, Madison Civic Center, 28 Walnut Street, Madison, NJ.

The showcase will be performed at Madison High School on Friday, August 10 and Saturday, August 11 at 8pm. Rehearsals will be Monday-Thursday, 4pm-6pm at Playwrights Theatre administrative offices, Madison Civic Center, 28 Walnut Street, Madison, NJ.

The showcase will be directed by Kasey Colligan and Brian Lang, recent graduates of Madison High School and the directors of last year’s Seussical, Jr. and will includes songs and scenes from Newsies, Into the Woods, The Secret Garden, Cinderella and more. Playwrights Theatre will oversee the production.

“A showcase is a great opportunity for young performers to practice their talents, and gives everyone involved a chance to show off their strongest aspect of performing,” said Kasey Colligan. “The variety of songs and scenes helps make sure that everyone has an opportunity to show off their greatest talent. They also provide flexibility in the rehearsal process.”
