Players Guild Of Leonia presents SYLVIA in Partnership with Local Animal Shelters
By: A.A. Cristi

New Jersey's oldest continuing theatrical group is partnering with two local animal shelters to help their animals find forever homes this holiday season.
The Players Guild of Leonia, a nonprofit resident acting company, will be be donating a portion of their proceeds from their production of "Sylvia" to Bergen County Protect and Rescue and Closter Animal Welfare Society (C.L.A.W.S.). In addition, the theatre will be accepting "wish list" items such as dog food, paper towels and other dog specific items the shelters need. The play "Sylvia" written by A.R. Gurney, tells the funny and touching story of a stray dog taken in by a New York City Animal shelter and The Players Guild of Leonia knew this is a perfect opportunity to work together with local shelters for a worthy cause. Maureen Mulvihill has been an active member and volunteer with all three nonprofit groups. "When I lost my dog Broadway, volunteering at the shelters helped channel my grief by helping animals find their forever home" says Mulvihill. "When I heard Players Guild would be performing 'Sylvia', I got to work on getting these three nonprofit groups together."
