Play Theater originated as part of the Scotch Plains NJ Recreation Department and has provided musical theater instruction and productions there for three years. Says founder and director Amy Fiore, "Scotch Plains will always be home and I plan to return to produce and direct musicals there for many years to come. I am, however, thrilled to expand our offerings to new kids this spring and teach more specific theater skills for a little while. I am very grateful to UCPAC for the opportunity." UCPAC, as Central New Jersey's Premier Acting Academy, began offering classes in January 2016 and is dedicated to enhancing the quality of arts education to the community's youth, teens, and adults through the highest level of theater training.

Instructor Amy Fiore has enjoyed a life-long passion for Musical Theater. She studied and engaged in performance from a young age and continually sought ways to immerse herself in all aspects of theater arts. Amy holds a degree from Syracuse University in Musical Theater Performance with a minor in Education and has taught theater, acting, and arts administration to children and adults in many places, including Camp Harmony, West Orange Theater Under the Stars, Baruch College and NYU. For the past 15 years, Amy has been an arts administrator and was inspired to bring her skills to her community after working with local kids while volunteering at a local elementary school. For the last 7 years, Amy has helped run NYC's most established children's theater company, TADA! Youth Theater, and is proud have brought that spirit and her combination of skills and experience to the children of Scotch Plains/Fanwood, and now expanded it to greater Union County.
