Philemon, by Harvey Schmidt and Tom Jones, will be presented by 4th Wall Theatre; one of New Jersey's most cutting edge musical theatre companies intent on bringing lesser known works to their audiences.  The stellar cast of seven, led by Will Lampe who recently returned from the National tour of Urban Cowboy will present this morality chamber musical in concert on March 28 and 29 at 8:00 pm.   Other cast members include Kathy Biehl, Marisa Cucuzza, Tracy Espiritu, Gregory Hedler, Charles Riley and Todd Shumpert. Directed by Bruce McCandless with musical direction by Deborah Martin.

"Set in the Roman city of Antioch, Philemon, traces the life of a street clown, Cockian, who allows himself to be hired by a Roman commander to impersonate an imprisoned religious leader.  Hired to betray secrets of this underground revolution, Cockian is faced with the realities that everything in life is not black or white and sometimes, we have to take a stand. This lost masterpiece uses religion from ancient times to tell a story that could be ripped from the headlines of today; Serbia.  Darfur.  Rwanda. Afghanistan.  Ethnic cleansing is still very real in some parts of the world just as it was back when the Romans were trying to rid the world of Christians or Nazi Germany tried to eliminate its Jewish population," states press notes.

4th Wall Theatre performs at the Westminster Arts Center at the corner of Franklin and Fremont Streets, Bloomfield, NJ.  Ticket prices are only $10.00. Tickets for all 4th Wall shows may be purchased by calling 973-748-9008 ext. 279. Additional information is available at www.4thwalltheatre.com.
