Monmouth Community Players presents 1940's - WHEN RADIO WAS KING

By:

Before there was Netflix, Hulu and cable TV, families would crowd around the radio to listen to their favorite shows. The Monmouth Community Players invites audiences to take a trip into the past and experience a live radio show in "1940's - When Radio Was King." This production is being directed by Linda Duarte of Lewiston, with music direction by Bob Gilbert and Cindy Dunham of Winthrop filling the role of producer.

The audience can expect to see an authentic old-time radio show, complete with old vaudeville comedy routines, sketches and commercials including sound effects - just like they would experience if they were in the audience of a real radio program. Many of the skits come right out of the 1940s radio genre, including 'Blondie', 'Sherlock Holmes' and more. The evening is meant to ignite a trip down memory lane for those old enough to remember, and an exciting new journey for the young at heart.

The cast is a mixture of vocal and comedic talent, consisting of: Andy Tolman and Elaine Hanish of Readfield; Cindy Dunham and Ginger Smith of Winthrop; Henry Quintal of Augusta; Josie French of Lewiston; Jeffrey Fairfield of Hallowell; Brittany Bazinet of Greene; and Ray Fletcher, FrEd Mallon, David Marshall, Megan Record and Karen Lipovsky of Monmouth.

The show will be performed at the historic Cumston Hall in downtown Monmouth. The show runs one weekend, February 16-19, 2017 at 7:30 pm Thursday to Saturday and at 2pm on Sunday. Tickets are $14 for General Admission and $12 for Students and Seniors. To order tickets, or for more information, please visit MCP's website at www.monmouthcommunityplayers.org, or call (800)838-3006.
