McCarter Theatre Center To Present AN EVENING WITH BEN VEREEN 2/1/2010

McCarter Theatre Center (91 University Place, Princeton) will present Tony Award-winning actor, singer and dancer Ben Vereen in his one man show, An Evening with Ben Vereen, on Monday, February 1st at 8 pm.
Mr. Vereen, who is currently appearing in McCarter's world premiere production of Fetch Clay, Make Man, brings his one-man show to Princeton after dazzling audiences throughout the United States, Europe, and Abu Dhabi. Ben's show is a unique blend of artistry, combining a tribute to Broadway, Frank Sinatra, and a very special tribute to Sammy Davis Jr. Featuring popular songs such as "Defying Gravity", "Mr. Bojangles", "Something's Coming" and "Life is Just a Bowl of Cherries", An Evening With Ben Vereen is a contemporary and timeless journey through the Broadway songbook.A Tony Award winner for his renowned performance in Bob Fosse's Pippin, Ben has gone on to solidify his place among Broadway royalty, with starring roles in such Broadway productions as Wicked, Fosse, Jelly's Last Jam, Chicago, Jesus Christ Superstar, Hair and I'm Not Rappaport. Ben, legend of the stage and screen, is perhaps best known for his iconic role as Chicken George in the groundbreaking television miniseries ROOTS. Recently, Ben has guest starred on the television shows Grey's Anatomy (Prism Award),Tyler Perry's House of Payne, Law and Order: Criminal Intent, and appeared in the Emmy-nominated made for TV movie An Accidental Friendship for which he won an NAACP nomination. His memorable film credits include All That Jazz, Sweet Charity and Funny Lady (Golden Globe nomination).
In addition, Ben continues to be the spokesman for the leading pharmaceutical company sanofi-aventis U.S., leading a proactive and preventive campaign for those living with diabetes.
