Lauren Weedman, "the bad girl of confessional comedy," (Seattle Times) will make her highly anticipated return to Trenton when she opens Passage Theatre's 8th Annual Solo Flights Festival on Friday, March 5. Former Daily Show correspondent, Weedman will perform her critically-acclaimed one-woman show Bust, March 5 through 7, and her new show No...You Shut Up on March 12 and 13.
Bust draws from Ms. Weedman's own experience- volunteering in a southern California jail while simultaneously navigating the mean streets of Hollywood, auditioning and pitching projects to film and television producers. In Bust, Weedman plays more than fifteen different characters, among them: inmates, fellow volunteers, Hollywood gatekeepers-and herself. In 2007, Lauren Weedman published Woman Trapped in a Woman's Body - a hilarious book of essays detailing her struggles with family, body-image and the search for fame. The book went on to become one of Kirkus Review's Top Ten Indie Books of 2007 and now she will bring some of those stories to the Passage stage in her new show No...You Shut Up. Lauren Weedman made her television debut on Comedy Central's Emmy Award-winning The Daily Show with Jon Stewart in 2001 as a featured Correspondent. It was at that same time that Lauren was a regular on NPR's national, political satire show, Rewind and appeared in her solo show, Homecoming, Off-Broadway at The Westside Theatre. She has appeared multiple times on Reno 911 for Comedy Central, as well as Curb Your Enthusiasm for HBO. She also starred opposite Eddie Griffin in Pryor Offenses, a Showtime pilot based on the life of Richard Pryor. Her other credits include the HBO series Hung, as well as opposite Eddie Murphy in Imagine That, and in the upcoming comedy film Date Night opposite Steve Carell and Tina Fey.Accessibility
