ReVision Theatre will be hosting Kingdom Anti-Gang Symposium on Thursday, March 19, 2009 from 7 - 9 pm at the VFW Theatre, 701 Lake Avenue, in Asbury Park, NJ. Kingdom, a Carlos Armesto-directed musical with books and lyrics by Aaron Jafferis and music by Ian Williams will be performed in conjunction with the symposium.

There are over 1,000 teens and young adults who are members of gangs in Monmouth County. What can we do to stop it? ReVision Theatre and Where Peace Lives are joining forces to bring the community together and find new approaches to gang violence. Join us as we discuss the impact of gang violence in our community. We will have a panel of gang experts including members from the Prosecutor's Office, Asbury Park Police Department, Prevention First, and Asbury Park High School in a town hall meeting.

Topics include: How bad is it?, Why are gangs growing in number?, What can be done?, What programs are working?, How can our community work together to make a difference?, etc.

RSVP - Bert@ReVisionTheatre.org or 732-455-3059.

Kingdom will be performed Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 8 pm and Sundays at 7 pm April 16 through May 3, 2009. The show will be performed at the VFW Theatre · Lake Avenue & Bond St. Asbury Park, New Jersey 07712.

Inspired by the true stories of current and former Latin Kings, Kingdom chronicles the journey of two kids from the barrio in a quest to belong - and the power struggle that tears the two friends apart.
