Jersey City Children's Theater has announced their new holiday show, "Jack and the Beanstalk and Other Tales of Adventure." The company's eighth production marks the end of JCCT's second season performing for and teaching classes to more than 11,000 members of the Jersey City Community since they opened in March 2011.

"Jack and The Beanstalk and Other Tales of Adventure" will feature original Story Theater adaptations of Jack and the Beanstalk, The Four Artful Sisters (adapted in cooperation with Carol Sills and Sills/Spolin Theater Works) and Wynken, Blynken and Nod (a.k.a. Dutch Lullaby). As is always the case with JCCT productions, a post-performance creative drama workshop will be offered where young audience members are invited to act out and re-imagine parts of the show with the cast. JCCT is committed to providing high quality professional theater to the community as well as theater instruction for all ages, in a fun, creative and educationally enriching environment.

Jersey City Children's Theater is also committed to making the arts accessible to youth and families regardless of financial means, and to that end is working in partnership with the Jersey City Board of Education, donating 100 tickets for Jack and Beanstalk to underserved families throughout the city.

Says K Tanzer, Resident Director of Jersey City Children's Theater: "Jack... takes JCCT's performance work to a whole new level. The Shadows in this production are increasingly detailed and complex, and we are integrating them into our storytelling with greater focus and depth than ever before. We are also working with a musician/composer from the very start of our rehearsal process. As a result, the music -which will be performed live as part of the show - is not only being created specifically for our show, but is an integral part of the creation of the show. As with all of our productions, we work very collaboratively. I believe that the spirit with which the shows are made carries through to our audiences. I look forward to sharing this new piece with our audiences and community."

"We are so thrilled to be exploring and sharing these stories with Jersey City," adds Kathy Hendrickson, Artistic Director of Jersey City Children's Theater. "The collaboration with Sills/Spolin Theater Works and Carol Sills is such an integral part of what we do not only in our performances and in classes, but at the very foundation of what we do."
