Developed at Penguin Rep Theatre, Santa Claus is Coming Out, is a theatrical mock-u-mentary about the worldwide scandal surrounding the outing of Santa Claus. Writer-performer Jeffrey Solomon traces the intensely personal struggle of the great holiday icon, as he tries to reconcile his love relationship with Italian toy maker Giovanni Geppetto with his passion for giving to the world's children. This uproarious charmer is for everyone-and anyone who has ever felt like an outsider on Christmas. The New York Times calls the piece, "a sensitive, imaginative tale about a boy's realization the he is different. Mr. Solomon portrays an amazing range of characters, all of them beautifully." Theatremania.com says"Santa Claus is Coming Out is charming and hilarious, thought-provoking and genuinely moving."Gay City News raves Santa Claus is Coming Out is "an engaging, effective, and political piece of satire that is also a heartwarming, alternative holiday tale...Solomon is an adept and appealing performer, easily moving among more than a dozen characters and making them distinct and memorable."
