JCC Thurnauer School of Music Sets 2011-2012 Concerts, Special Events

The JCC Thurnauer School of Music, New Jersey's leading community music school, named a Major Arts Institution by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, is pleased to announce its 2011-2012 Season. In the upcoming season, its 28th at the Kaplen JCC on the Palisades (411 East Clinton Avenue), the music school will continue its proud traditions and will establish new ones with its exciting concert series, master classes, and other performances by both aspiring and professional artists.

Events in 2011-2012 include performances by the Thurnauer orchestras and choruses; concerts of the Thurnauer Chamber Music Society; the Sylvia and Jacob Handler Master Classes; the second annual Beverly and Lewis Lauring Guitar Master Class; concerts of the SHIRAH Community Chorus on the Palisades; the 13th annual Sandra O. Gold Founders Day Concert; the Dr. Paul and Aranka Kaplan Honors Recital; the beginning of an exciting new three-year, nine-concert series featuring Beethoven's 32 piano sonatas, performed by faculty member Steven Masi; and the 22nd annual Gift of Music Gala Benefit Concert.

"We are thrilled to begin the 28th season of the JCC Thurnauer School of Music," said founding director Dorothy Kaplan Roffman. "Thanks to our excellent faculty, our dedicated staff and parents, and our generous donors, we are able to continue our proud tradition of providing the highest-quality music education to students of all ages in Bergen County and beyond."
All events are free except the Thurnauer Chamber Music Society ($20 general admission, $16 JCC members) and the SHIRAH Community Chorus on the Palisades ($18 general admission; $15 JCC members).

About the JCC Thurnauer School of Music

The JCC Thurnauer School of Music, New Jersey's leading community music school, has been designated a Major Arts Institution by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts.
