The pop culture phenomenon, Disney's "High School Musical," is about to take center stage at Mercer County Community College's Kelsey Theatre. Featuring some of the region's most talented young people, Cheng/Ferrara Productions presents this big, bubbly musical Thursday and Fridays, May 1, 7 and 8 at 7:30 p.m.; Saturdays, May 2 and 9 at 2 and 7:30 p.m.; and Sundays, May 3 and 10 at 2 p.m. (Due to the show's anticipated popularity, Cheng/Ferrara has added an evening performance on May 7 and matinees on May 2 and 9.) A reception with the cast and crew follows the opening night performance on May 1. Kelsey Theatre is located on Mercer's West Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road.

When brainy Gabriella meets dreamy hoops star Troy on a ski weekend, they sing their way into each other's hearts in a karaoke contest. But when Gabriella unexpectedly becomes the new girl at Troy's school, life gets a lot more complicated. How will they realize their dream of starring in the high school show while navigating competing cliques and clashing loyalties? With numbers like "We're All in This Together," "Getcha Head in the Game," "Stick to the Status Quo" and "When There Was Me and You," "High School Musical" will delight the whole family with its memorable songs, spirited dancing and inspiring message of unity.
The most popular Disney Channel movie in history, "High School Musical" won an Emmy in 2006. Disney produced a television sequel in 2007 and a feature film, "High School Musical 3," in 2008. The film's soundtrack was the best-selling album in the United States in 2006.
