HAVING OUR SAY Hits McCarter Theatre 9/11-10/18
Having Our Say is currently coming to life at the McCarter Theatre Center at 91 University Place in Princeton, NJ. The play, which took the stage September 11, 2009, will have its say at the theatre through October 18.
In celebration of Emily Mann’s 20th anniversary season, McCarter Theatre is reviving one of their most-loved plays, which charmed McCarter audiences in 1995 before transferring to an award-winning Broadway run. Now, it's more powerful and healing than ever. Join McCarter once again for a visit with Sadie and Bessie, the indomitable Delany sisters whose poignant and irreverent outlook on a transforming American landscape offers a life-affirming testament to legacy and hope. In their intimate Berlind Theatre, and in a new millennium, come witness this joyous play in a new light.
Adapted by multi-award-winning playwright and McCarter Artistic Director Emily Mann from the best-selling book by Sarah and A. Elizabeth Delany with Amy Hill Hearth, Having Our Say received 3 Tony nominations in 1995 and has since been produced internationally to critical acclaim. The play was turned into a television movie starring Diahann Carroll and Ruby Dee, earning a Peabody Award for Excellence in Television and a NAACP Image Award nomination.
Tickets range from $15 to $55 and are available online here or by calling 609-258-ARTS (2787).
