Dreamcatcher Repertory Theatre to Participate in The Stages Festival

Dreamcatcher Repertory Theatre, professional Theatre in Residence at the Oakes Center in Summit, will participate in the New Jersey Theatre Alliance's annual Stages Festival held throughout the month of March. By offering discounted tickets to shows and a free workshop for adults, and by presenting a play reading with Writers Theatre of New Jersey, Dreamcatcher will reach new audiences and spread the word about the high quality of professional theatre available in the state.

A free Creative Dramatics for Grown-Ups workshop will be held on Saturday, March 5 from 1:30 - 3:00 at Oakes Center in Summit. This class, led by teaching artist Beth Painter, is an opportunity for students to explore the theatre games and exercises that are the building blocks of acting. Participants will have the fun of liberating their creativity and flexing their collaborative muscles in a supportive setting. Dreamcatcher will also offer a free companion ticket to their mainstage performances of Sister Play with the purchase of a full-price ticket of $35 during the weekend of March 4-6. This offer is designed to introduce new audience members to the theatre by giving current patrons a chance to bring a friend to their favorite theatre for free. As a part of the Writers Theatre of New Jersey's "New Plays New Jersey" reading series, Dreamcatcher will present Lia Romeo's Green Whales. This reading will take place at the Bickford Theatre in Morristown on Wednesday, March 2 at 7 pm. In this dark comedy, two sisters search for love and decide just how much they're willing to settle for. For tickets and information, call 973-514-1787.

The Stages Festival offers dozens of performances, workshops, classes, and events at the state's professional theatres, performing arts centers, libraries, schools, senior centers, and other community venues. The program was developed to encourage New Jersey's residents to attend their local professional theatres by making the experience affordable, accessible, and fun.
