Dr. Seuss's THE CAT IN THE HAT to Play Mayo Performing Arts Center

By:

Mayo Performing Arts Center presents the live stage adaptation of Dr. Seuss' The Cat in the Hat, performed by Childsplay, the nationally-recognized professional theatre for young audiences.

Performances are Sunday, March 12, 2017 at 1:30 pm and 4:30 pm. Tickets are $12 - $15. Appropriate for ages 3 - 10.

The Cat in the Hat is arguably the most famous children's book of all time. Childsplay is one of only a handful of theatre companies in the United States to perform the adaptation, making this high-energy and hilarious show a "must-see" for families!

"You can boil everything down to fun. simple and clear. The Cat wants to have fun. And so do we!" says The Cat in the Hat Director David Barker. "The show feels just as youthful and exhilarating as reading a Dr. Seuss book."

From the moment his tall, red-and-white striped hat appears at their door, Sally and her brother know that the Cat in the Hat is the most mischievous cat they will ever meet. Suddenly a rainy afternoon is transformed by the Cat and his antics. Can the kids clean up before mom comes home? With some tricks (and a fish) and Thing Two and Thing One, with The Cat in The Hat, the fun's never done!

Childsplay, Inc. is a nonprofit theatre company of professional, adult artists who perform for and teach young audiences and their families. The mission of Childsplay is "to create theatre so strikingly original in form, content or both, that it instills in young people an enduring awe, love and respect for the medium, thus preserving imagination and wonder, the hallmarks of childhood which are keys to the future."
