Check Out American Theater Group's MARRY HARRY, 4/23-5/11

By: Apr. 12, 2014

This spring, American Theater Group, New Jersey's newest professional theater, will present a new musical, Marry Harry, from April 23 - May 11th.

Check out a hilarious clip of two of the actors here.

Featuring a book by Jennifer Robbins, with music by Dan Martin and lyrics by Michael Biello Marry Harry is the story of Harry - known in his family as "Little Harry" - a chef wannabe trapped as cook at his dad's failing East Village restaurant. He wants to leave, but doesn't know how to do it without breaking Big Harry's heart. Meanwhile, Sherri, the landlord's daughter, feels trapped working in her mother's company.

Sparks fly the day Sherri, fresh off a broken engagement with a cheating fiancé, comes to collect past due rent. They bond over the parental ties that choke and bind them, falling madly in love ... until everything implodes.

With humor, heart and a pinch of spice, Marry Harry explores ideas about family loyalty, love, food, and finding one's path in life.

Marry Harry is directed by Kent Nicholson, whose recent credits include Light in the Piazza for South Coast Repertory. A noted developer of both new plays and musicals, he currently serves as the Director of Musical Theater and Literary Associate at Playwrights Horizons in New York.

Starring as Little Harry is Howie Michael Smith has played the roles of Princeton/Rod from Avenue Q in over 1,000 performances on Broadway and on tour. Sherri is played by Jillian Louis, who recently performed on Broadway in Soul Doctor, and has appeared regionally at Walnut Street Theatre and St. Louis Rep. Big Harry is played by Danny Tutigliano. A New Jersey native, Danny played the title role in Fiorello! for City Center's Encores! and his Broadway and National Tour credits include Billy Elliot, The Lion King and How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. Also a New Jersey native, Michele Ragusa appears as Debby. On Broadway Michele has been seen in Young Frankenstein, Urinetown and Ragtime. Paper Mill Playhouse audiences will remember her in the title role in Kiss Me Kate, and from The Full Monty and She Loves Me.

American Theater Group performs at the intimate 199-seat Hamilton Stage at 360 Hamilton Street in Rahway, New Jersey. Hamilton Stage is governed and operated by the Union County Performing Arts Center. Hamilton Stage has ample parking and is just a five minute walk from New Jersey Transit's Rahway station.
