CABARET Continues At The Eagle Theater Thru 8/27

By:

Stage Left Productions, the same company that brought you The Who's Tommy and The Last Five Years, will continue its run of the classic musical Cabaret at the Eagle Theatre, located at 208 Vine Street in Downtown Hammonton, at 8pm on August 25, 26, and 27.

Set in Berlin against the backdrop of pre-WW2 Germany, Cabaret is centered on the love affair between a young American writer, Clifford, and a British singer, Sally. The relationship of these characters is Cabaret's center of gravity-around which the Nazi threat steadily grows stronger, and the approach of war becomes imminent.

Cabaret is widely known for its brilliant musical score by Kander and Ebb which includes "Wilkommen," "Money," and the timeless hit "Cabaret". Cabaret premiered on Broadway in 1967, and has since enjoyed several revivals, most recently in 1998. It was also made into an Academy Award winning film directed by Bob Fosse and starring Liza Minelli and Joel Grey.

This production of Cabaret stars some of South Jersey's most well-known performers. The show is directed by Elizabeth Rodriguez and is musical directed by two-time Barrymore Award Nominee Collin Maier. Maier was recently nominated for a Perry Award for Outstanding Musical Direction for The Last Five Years, which ran at the Eagle Theatre in March of this year.

Tickets for this performance are $20 GA. Additionally, a limited number of reserved seats at cabaret-style tables are available for $30. They can be purchased at TheEagleTheatre.com.

The Eagle Theatre is a non-profit culturally diverse performing arts center located at 208 Vine Street in Downtown Hammonton, New Jersey. It is committed to the education and entertainment of audiences throughout the greater South Jersey and Philadelphia regions. The theatre was restored in 2009 and has since been reborn as the centerpiece of the Hammonton Art District.
