By:

The Bergen Performing Arts Center is pleased to host a magnificent performance by Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, receiver of the Billboard magazine Century Award for distinguished artistic achievement, and 6 time Grammy winner, Buddy Guy. The performance will be taking place tonight, June 28, 2013 at 8:00PM.

Buddy Guy, at the remarkable age of 76, has been one of the most influential blues guitarists, singers and writers of the modern era of music. He is notorious for his numerous awards and his own unique musical styling has come to be known as "Chicago Blues". He is credited with influencing the work of popular artists such as Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, and Stevie Ray Vaughn. Rolling Stone even ranked him in the top 30 of its "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time."

Born and raised in Lettsworth, Louisiana, Guy began learning guitar at a young age. In the early 1950's he began performing with bands in Baton Rouge. Soon after moving to Chicago in 1957, Guy fell under the influence of Muddy Waters, an American blues musician who is considered the "Father of Modern Chicago Blues". In 1958, a competition with West Side guitarists Magic Sam and Otis Rush gave Guy a record contract. Soon afterwards he recorded for Cobra Records.

For almost 50 years, Buddy Guy performed live concerts of energetic blues and blues rock, predating the 1960s blues rockers. As a musician, he had a fundamental impact on the blues and on rock and roll, influencing a new generation of artists. Buddy Guy puts his heart and soul into his music and in December 2012, he received a Kennedy Center Honor, the nation's highest award for those who have influenced American culture through the arts, in a Washington DC ceremony attended by President Obama and his wife, along with fellow honorees David Letterman, Dustin Hoffman, ballerina Natalia Makarova, and Led Zeppelin.

Amazingly enough, while most toddlers were playing with toys, Quinn Sullivan picked up his first guitar at the age of 3 and quickly developed skills of the artists years way beyond his years. His natural, authentic, ability combined with exposure to many kinds of music and musicians alike, lEd Quinn into the national spotlight with an appearance on the Ellen show. He astonished the audience by playing his own rendition of "Twist and Shout!"

In 2007, Quinn met his idol, Blues Legend Buddy Guy at a concert in his hometown. Buddy Guy asked him to come on stage and play during a performance at the Zeiterion Theater in New Bedford, Massachusetts in 2007.Buddy was so impressed with Quinn's guitar skills that he invited him to play on his Grammy nominated cd "Skin Deep" where he met future producer and song writing partner Tom Hambridge.

Today, Quinn continues to be featured on shows including Oprah and the Today Show. With the help of Buddy Guy, Quinn's first cd, Cyclone, was released in 2011. Quinn also made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel and has done interviews with PBS.

Overall, Quinn has a remarkable future ahead of him in 2013. He is proud to be continuing his collaboration with Buddy Guy and producer Tom Hambridge and is excited to be performing at the The Bergen Performing Arts Center. The 76 year old and 14 year old duo are the perfect combination of soul and talent and will sure to entertain and captivate audiences.
