Bergen County Players To Present SPAMALOT As 85th Season Opener

Get ready to roll in the aisles as Bergen County Players (BCP) ushers in the 2017-2018 season with a side-splitting production of SPAMALOT, adapted from the classic 1975 cult film comedy Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Directed by veteran BCP member Jacqueline Poquette of Westwood, the musical opens following a full summer of renovations at the Little Firehouse Theatre at 298 Kinderkamack Road in Oradell. New seats have been installed, and the theater's interior and lobby have been completely refurbished.
The show starts its run on Saturday, September 16 and runs through October 14. Curtain call for Fridays and Saturdays is 8:00pm and Sundays at 2:00pm. There will be no performances on September 29 and 30. Tickets may be purchased online at www.bcplayers.org, by calling 201-261-4200 or by visiting the box office of the theater during regular box office hours.Eric Idle, a member of the comedy group Monty Python, wrote the lyrics and book to SPAMALOT, with music by John Du Prez, Idle and Neil Innes. The original 2005 Broadway production, directed by Mike Nichols, won three Tony Awards, including Best Musical of the season and received 14 Tony Award nominations. During its initial run of more than 1,500 performances, it was seen my more than two million people.
TICKET AND SCHEDULE INFORMATION
- All performances for SPAMALOT take place at The Little Firehouse Theatre at 298 Kinderkamack Road in Oradell, home to the Bergen County Players since 1949. Performance times are Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm, and Sundays at 2pm, beginning Saturday, September 16 through Saturday, October 14.
- All tickets are $24.00 and can be purchased online at www.bcplayers.org, by calling 201-261-4200 or by visiting the box office at 298 Kinderkamack Road in Oradell during regular box office hours. Visa, Master Card and American Express are accepted.
- BCP's popular Questions & Artists talkback session will be held following the performance on Friday, September 22. The session is included in the cost of the ticket price.
- Those interested in Group Sales of 20 or more tickets can email groups@bcplayers.org or call the main number and press #6.
- Row K, Seats #1 and #2 are held to accommodate people with disabilities. They can be purchased by calling the box office at 201-261-4200. These seats will be released for public sale two weeks prior to performance.
- Parking is free at the Park Avenue municipal lot, across the street, one-half block north of the theater.
The Bergen County Players has grown tremendously from its roots as a small community theater when it was founded in 1932. Today, nearly 300 volunteer members, working on and off stage, make possible the nine productions presented each season. The remaining Main Stage productions are Harvey (October 28th to November 18th), Cinderella (December 2nd to 17th), Other Desert Cities (January 13th to February 3rd), Steel Magnolias (February 17th to March 10th), and the Winner Was... (March 24th to April 21st), and It's Only a Play (May 5th to June 3rd). Second Stage productions include George is Dead/Talking Cure (January 27th to 28th), and While Shakespeare Slept/When Shakespeare's Ladies Meet (June 9th to 10th).
