William Shatner was sterling in his one-night solo performance, IT'S SHATNER'S WORLD, at the Bergen Performing Center on January 21.

Throughout the almost two-hour show, the original captain of the Enterprise was quite the raconteur, entertaining the packed house with tales of his youth, his parents, his academic history and, of course, the stage.

The 84 year-old Shatner was lively and animated at the right times. He bounced about stage when he wasn't seated in his only prop - a comfy, cushy office chair -- recounting events with the same casual banter as if though he were in your living room.

The stories gave insight and amusement, particularly Shatner's anxiety over honoring George Lucas and his immediate need to fill-in for Christopher Plummer in a theater production. Of course Star Trek was included, but not until almost an hour into the show. There is so much to Shatner, enough to fill a world.

I recommend that you boldly go see SHATNER'S WORLD at your next opportunity.
