BWW Blog: Dalton Allison - Being in a Holiday Production

By:

Around the holidays, one always tends to gravitate towards family. They often eat large dinners, shop lavishly, and do other holiday oriented activities together. They might even see a holiday production at their local theater. But little do they know, while they are enjoying the show with their family, they are actually watching one on stage.

Being in a holiday production creates a bond of merry and cheer between all of the production staff and performers. For them, the holiday season starts as soon as the Halloween season ends. Rehearsals start in early November, and cast members are thrown into the holiday spirit by the music and words of the script. Of course there is always a bond created during rehearsals, but this is a different family.

As most of the messages from holiday productions often include peace and love, that type of warmth spreads throughout the cast. As a cast member of a holiday production, I witness this firsthand. The love that flows throughout the cast is one of the reasons why holiday productions are my favorite to be cast in, along with the ability to spread a message to an audience that is more than willing to listen.

So if you ever have the chance to be in a holiday production, I absolutely recommend participating. It will bring love to your heart, and it might even establish a new sense of what the holidays mean to you. Be the gift giver, not the receiver of these beautiful messages.

Editor's Note: Dalton Allison is now a member of the Ensemble in A Christmas Carol: The Musical at The Growing Stage, The Children's Theatre of New Jersey. The show will be on the Netcong Stage through December 18th .
