AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS Comes to MCCC's Kelsey Theatre Tonight

By:

Stampeding elephants! Raging typhoons! Runaway trains! Unabashedly slapstick! Audiences will need to buckle their seatbelts for the original amazing race as Maurer Productions OnStage presents AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS at Mercer County Community College's ( MCCC's) Kelsey Theatre.

Dates and show times for this family comedy adventure are Fridays, tonight, Oct. 9 and Oct. 16 at 8 p.m.; Saturdays, Oct. 10 and 17 at 8 p.m.; and Sundays, Oct. 11 and 18 at 2 p.m. Kelsey Theatre is located on the college's West Windsor campus at 1200 Old Trenton Road. A reception with the cast and crew follows the opening night show on Oct. 9.

The award-winning Maurer Productions OnStage brings Mark Brown's adaptation of the Jules Verne novel to the Kelsey stage for the very first time. Fearless adventurer Phileas Fogg and his faithful manservant, Passepartout, are racing to beat the clock. Fogg has agreed to an outrageous wager that he and Passepartout can circle the globe in an unheard of 80 days. But Fogg's every step is dogged by a detective who thinks he's a robber on the run. Danger, romance, and comic surprises abound in this whirlwind of a show as five actors portraying 40 characters traverse seven continents!

AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS has been produced literally around the world - from Off-Broadway to Baridhara Dhaka, Bangladesh. It has been named to multiple "Best Of" lists and has garnered many awards since its premiere in 2001.

The cast stars Dan Keyser of Morristown as Phileas Fogg. Actors playing multiple roles include: Maria Aromando of Bridgewater as Aouda (plus two other roles); Kurt Penney of Pennington as Jean Passepartout (plus one other role); John Pinto of Yardley, Pa., as Detective Fix (plus five other roles); and Dan Slothower of Plainsboro as Sir Francis (plus 18 other roles!).

Tickets are $18 for adults; $16 for senior citizens, and $14 for students and children. Free parking is available next to the theater. Tickets may be purchased online at www.kelseytheatre.net or by calling the Kelsey Box Office at 609-570-3333. Discounted subscription packages for the 2015-16 season are still on sale. For a complete listing of adult and children's events, visit the Kelsey website or call the box office for a brochure.
