'50/50: Ayckbourn and Chester Theatre Group' Presented 9/25, 9/26 At The Black River Playhouse
Chester Theatre Group (Chester, NJ) traces the remarkable 50-year writing career of Sir Alan Ayckbourn while re-living scenes from the dozen Ayckbourn plays produced by the Group (also celebrating their 50th year), including four American premieres. Members of the original Chester Theatre Group casts re-assemble for a rare tribute to the prolific playwright, who turned 70 early this year. The evening culminates with a rare piece of Ayckbourn writing never heard on any American stage.
The evening will feature classic scenes from THE NORMAN CONQUESTS, ABSURD PERSON SINGULAR, BEDROOM FARCE, RELATIVELY SPEAKING, WOMAN IN MIND, FAMILY CIRCLES, TIME OF MY LIFE, BODY LANGUAGE, SNAKE IN THE GRASS, and IMPROBABLE FICTION. The cast includes Ayckbourn veterans Mary Claire Cardoni, Patrick Carpenter, Dawn Fantasia, Ellen Fraker Glasscock, Hannah Hendry, Carol Holland, Valerie Stack Dodge, Rich Maloy, Ruth Morley, Chris Mortenson, Thomas Moynahan, Julianne DiPietro Renshaw, Eric Rolland, Bob Sackstein, Dixon Stearns, Judy Stone, Elizabeth Urcinoli, Dave Villepique , and Eileen Waite
The evening is directed and written by Michael T. Mooney, who staged nine of the theatre's 15 productions of Ayckbourn plays and studied with the playwright in England from 2001 to 2005. Mooney is also the founder of the 4A's (Alan Ayckbourn Aficionados of America) - a group named by Ayckbourn himself.
Performances will be held at the Black River Playhouse, the corner of Grove and Maple, Chester, New Jersey.
"50/50: Ayckbourn and Chester Theatre Group" will be presented for two performances only on Friday, September 25 and Saturday, September 26 at 8pm. Tickets are $10 and reservations can be made by contacting The Playhouse at 908.879.7304. www.chestertheatregroup.org
