The Grateful Dads, hailing from Jaffrey, New Hampshire, are a vibrant cover band known for their energetic performances and deep-rooted connection to the spirit of classic rock, particularly inspired by the Grateful Dead. Formed by a group of seasoned musicians from the Monadnock region, the band brings together a diverse mix of talents, including lead guitarist Tom Walters, whose intricate riffs echo Jerry Garcia’s improvisational style, and vocalist Sarah “Sunny” Henderson, whose soulful delivery adds a fresh twist to their renditions. Drummer Mike “Rhythm” Russo and bassist Jake Larson, both lifelong friends and Jaffrey natives, provide a tight, groove-heavy backbone, honed through years of playing in local outfits before coalescing into The Grateful Dads. Their shared passion for the Dead’s catalog, blended with influences from blues, folk, and psychedelia, has made them a beloved fixture in New England’s live music scene, often performing at venues like The Park Theatre in their hometown.

The band has garnered praise for their ability to capture the freewheeling essence of the Grateful Dead while infusing their own personality into each show. A review from the Monadnock Ledger-Transcript raved, “The Grateful Dads don’t just play the songs—they channel the vibe, turning every gig into a communal celebration that’d make even the most hardened Deadhead nod in approval.” Another local outlet, Keene Sentinel, noted, “Their Jaffrey roots shine through in the warmth and authenticity of their sound—a true tribute band that’s as much about heart as it is about harmony.” With a repertoire spanning Dead classics like “Truckin’” and “Ripple” alongside unexpected covers from the likes of Bob Dylan and The Band, The Grateful Dads have built a reputation as a must-see act, drawing crowds for their infectious enthusiasm and a knack for keeping the spirit of the ‘60s alive in the 21st century.
