Seacoast Repertory Theater Presents THE WOMAN IN BLACK in October

By:

The Seacoast Repertory Theater explores dimly lit apparitions and spectral stirrings with "The Woman in Black" this October 2012.

Originally a novella by Susan Hill, “The Woman In Black” is a by-the-fire ghost tale that will unlock your imagination and rattle your senses. The turn of the century story was adapted to a play in 1989 and has been engaging London audiences ever since, making it the second longest running production in the West End's history.

Arthur Kipps (Bill Humphreys*) has a ghostly secret. When he was a young solicitor's clerk Kipps was sent to a remote corner of England to settle the affairs of Mrs. Alice Drablow of Eel Marsh House. What Arthur encountered in the dusty corridors and murky rooms of the house has haunted him his whole life. He enlists the help of a young actor (CJ Lewis) to help tell his tale and exorcise his demons. What ensues is a cerebral trip into the unknown. With little more than a sparse, old stage and "the miracle of recorded sound" these two actors play a myriad of characters as they relive Arthur Kipps' harrowing tale and attempt to vanquish the specter that still haunts his dreams.

The Woman in Black opens October 5th and runs through October 28th, Thursday-Sunday. Tickets are $18-42. To purchase tickets please contact Seacoast Rep Box office at 603.433.4472. Tickets may be bought in person at 125 Bow Street, Portsmouth, NH. Or online at www.seacoastrep.org. The Woman In Black is made possible by 2012 season and show sponsors.
