Capitol Center for the Arts Presents THE PRESIDENT’S OWN Marine Band, 10/12

By:

As part of the William H. Gile Series, The Capitol Center for the Arts presents "The President's Own" United States Marine Band Friday, October, 12 at 7:30pm.  This event is free of charge; however tickets need to be reserved to ensure seating.

For more than two centuries, the United States Marine Band has been part of events that have shaped the nation. Established by an Act of Congress in 1798, the Marine Band is America's oldest professional musical organization. Its primary mission is unique-to provide music for the President of the United States and the Commandant of the United States Marine Corps.

Now in its third century, the Marine Band continues a tradition of excellence that earned the title "The President's Own" from President Thomas Jefferson. Musicians are selected at auditions like those of major symphony orchestras, and they enlist in the U.S. Marine Corps for duty with the Marine Band only. Most members are graduates of the nation's finest music schools, and nearly 60 percent hold advanced degrees in music.

The William H. Gile Concert Series opened on December 16, 1960 after a legacy of more than $700,000 was left by Helen B. Gile to finance a free concert series for the residents of Concord. The bequest was made in memory of Miss Gile's father, William H. Gile.

Tickets for this free Gile Series Performance are available now by calling 603-225-1111, online at www.ccanh.com, and at the box office, located at 44 South Main Street, Concord, NH 03301, on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Once all tickets to one of the free events have been distributed, the Capitol Center will begin distributing Standby Tickets.  Standby Ticket holders will be given first priority for any seats that remain unclaimed 15 minutes before the start of the performance. The Capitol Center will make every effort to ensure that all Standby Ticket holders will be seated, but we cannot guarantee seating for Standby Tickets. If you have any questions, please contact the Capitol Center Box Office at (603) 225-1111. Doors open for seating to free performances approximately 45 minutes before showtime.  Please remember to indicate any special needs when placing your order.
