' The AD was full of praise when Steven Isserlis has impressed the public of the Residentie Orchestra with Elgars Cello concert. The vertex cell list and musical master Narrator comes back to the Hague. He now shares the stage with Amsterdam Sinfonietta. Also that ensemble gets exuberant reviews. ' Beautiful ' and ' Het Parool ' was made at the highest level the recently-released British cd.

Isserlis takes two completely different compositions. The cello concerto in A major by Carl Philip Emanuel Bach is a surprising masterpiece of around 1750. A spirited piece full of whimsical contrasts. A small two centuries later portrayed Ernest Bloch Jewish life in Eastern Europe with three gripping thumbnails: From Jewish Life. Unforgettable is the first part: prayer.
The prayer forms in this program a thread. We hear soldiers commemorate their fallen comrades in Battalia, a composition from 1673 by Heinrich Biber. This Austrian composer, Bach for a great example, excelled in theatrical compositions with sense of drama and humor. You hear the soldiers not only pray and fight on the battlefield, but also get drunk by the campfire.

Also Beethoven found a reason for musical on his knees. After he had recovered from a long illness, he wrote one of his most serene with the Heiliger Dankgesang compositions. Roughly at the same time bewildered his audience with lively if composing prodigy Mendelssohn symphonies for strings. You're listening to the twelfth Symphony.
