When you think of a harpist, shoot images probably come to mind of subtle plucking nymphs with long blond hair. But now there's Remy van Kesteren.

He recently completed the largest international harp competition in the world won in the US, reached 500,000 visitors during the Night of the Proms, and took several ambitious projects themselves, including a collaboration with the famous ballet choreographer Hans van Manen 2014.

Five years old, he became the swing lured by a mysterious noise from an open window - the sound of the harp. On his tenth Remy van Kesteren joined the Utrecht Conservatory and even before he finished his studies with the highest distinction, he could already look back on two successful editions of his own Dutch Harp Festival. Remy writes his rapidly developing career to his former teacher, Erika Waardenburg, the purveyor of the Dutch harp world. He does not feel bound by "ruling ideas" on the harp or classical music concepts.

Musica Callada / Silence Music - solo
The magical music of Spanish composer Federico Mompou (1893-1987) forms the basis of a musical journey and quest for silence. Mompou was recently rediscovered by artists such as composer Volodos and the world-famous choreographer Hans van Manen. He wrote his Musica Callada in four parts of seven tracks. Remy van Kesteren arranged this work for himself. With Mompou as a thread through the program, he explores together classical, jazz and improvisation in an ongoing program full of surprises.
