Isa Hoes en Medina Schuurman gaan het theater in. Na het succes van hun boek Te Lijf en hun nieuwste boek IM Lijfboek staan zij vanaf 3 oktober in de Nederlandse theaters. Tijdens dit theatercollege onderzoeken de hartsvriendinnen samen met een special guest de positie van de ouder wordende vrouw in deze maatschappij. Dit doen zij op een openhartige en persoonlijke manier gelardeerd met een flinke dosis humor en zelfrelativering.

De helden van de populaire Nickelodeon-reeks Nachtwacht krijgen een eerste bioscoopfilm: 'De Poort der Zielen'. In deze film zijn naast de bekende gezichten uit de reeks ook een aantal nieuwe gezichten te zien. Juvat Westendorp, bekend van o.a. zijn deelname aan So You Think You Can Dance en zijn rol in Goede Tijden Slechte Tijden, heeft zijn eerste hoofdrol te pakken. Hij speelt de magier Gideon, die het nieuwe lid van de Nachtwacht moet worden. Annemieke Verdoorn speelt de rol van 'president', de baas van de werelden: de aarde en de onderwereld. Annemieke werd bekend bij het grote publiek met haar rollenin Medisch Centrum West en Onderweg naar Morgen.

Dit is ook meteen het moment om kennis te maken met de nieuwe castsamenstelling. Tijdens de Uitmarkt kan het publiek de stand van de musical vinden op het Marineterrein standnummer 92. Bij de stand vindt op zondag een meet & greet plaats met castleden van The Color Purple een zijn er verschillende kortingen en weggeefacties georganiseerd.

On Monday 9th of July, the musical She Loves Me celebrated their opening night at Dansmaker Theatre in Amsterdam. It's the second production by De Kernploeg, whose mission it is to bring American musicals to the Dutch audience, choosing productions which aren't as well-known and therefore might be commercially risky. After last year's production of A New Brain, this summer season will be brighted up by this smart and witty production of She Loves Me (book by Joe Masteroff, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, and music by Jerry Bock.)

For the second time, the festival hosts a meeting of international network organisation Opera Europa. In addition, Operation Music Theater presents talents from Dutch soil to the international music industry with a special visitor program for Swiss theater makers in collaboration with Pro Helvetia this year. The programme was launched today as online ticket sales commence. 100+ performances can be enjoyed in Rotterdam's major theatres as well as at exciting inside and outside locations across the city. This year's festival theme is Heroism, with narratives revolving around the challenges and trials inherent to every hero's journey. Operadagen Rotterdam is an important meeting place for opera and music theatre professionals from around the world. This year the festival will host a programme developed by the international network organisation Opera Europa for the second time.
