Single Tickets to Clarence Brown Theatre's 2013-14 Season On Sale Today

All tickets to the 2013-2014 Clarence Brown Theatre season go on sale today, August 5. Tickets can be purchased online at clarencebrowntheatre.com or by phoning or stopping by the Box Office. The Box Office number is (865) 974-5161 and it opens at noon.

This popular farce follows the onstage and offstage antics of a hapless English theatre troupe stumbling from the first dress rehearsal to the disastrous closing night of their production, "Nothing On." Missed cues, broken backstage romances...and a very slippery plate of sardines all come together to create a comedy that gets everyone caught in the act!

In January 1788, the first of the British prison ships arrive at Botany Bay, Australia and settle the penal colony at Port Jackson, the site of current-day Sydney. Many of the prisoners have committed minor crimes and their wardens are military men who fought and lost the war against the American colonies.

When hope and supplies run low, a lieutenant tries to increase morale by staging a comedy using the convicts as the cast.

Based on real events, this award-winning drama is an evocative look at a moment in history--the founding of a nation--and an inspiring tale about the transforming power of theatre.

This production is directed by Calvin MacLean and is recommended for high school and up. It contains strong language and brief nudity.

In their cramped Orkney Islands barracks on the eve of VE Day, seven women confront the prospect of peace, which also means an end to their newfound wartime independence.

The production takes place in the Lab Theater and is directed by Tracey Copeland Halter.

With a dual mission to train the next generation of theatre artists and to provide top quality professional theatre, the Clarence Brown Theatre at the University of Tennessee Knoxville is one of only 12 academic LORT (League of Resident Theatre) institutions in the nation. Under the artistic direction of Calvin MacLean, the CBT season runs from August through May and features eight productions ranging from musicals to drama.
