Roald Dahl's JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH Sets Sail At The Roxy Regional Theatre Roald Dahl's beloved children's book about a boy, his insect friends and their amazing journey across the ocean on a giant piece of fruit sets sail this month on the corner of Franklin and First in Historic Downtown Clarksville.

A musical treat for the entire family to enjoy, JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH opens at the Roxy Regional Theatre on Friday, March 9, at 6:00pm. In keeping with the theatre's traditional pay-what-you-can opening night, all tickets not pre-sold at the regular ticket price will go on sale at 5:30pm that evening for a $5 minimum donation.

In this delightfully offbeat adaptation of the classic Roald Dahl adventure, when James is sent by his conniving aunts to chop down their old fruit tree, he discovers a magic potion that results in a tremendous peach ... and launches a journey of enormous proportions.

Suddenly, James finds himself in the center of the gigantic peach -- among human-sized insects with equally oversized personalities -- but, after it falls from the tree and rolls into the ocean, the group faces hunger, sharks and plenty of disagreements.

Thanks to James' quick wit and creative thinking, the residents learn to live and work together as a family. The dangerous voyage is a success, but the adventure takes a whole new twist once they land on the Empire State Building.

Starring Seth Hatch, JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH also features a host of outlandish characters played by Matthew Combs, Sean Michael Jaenicke, Melanie McSweeney, Jackie Ostick, Bryan Plummer, Emily Rourke, Ben Shimkus and Kimberly Wilpon. Directed by Ryan Bowie, the musical was written by Timothy Allen McDonald, with music and lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.

JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI) and is made possible in part through the generous support of the Clarksville Rotary Club and the Robert K. and Anne H. Zelle Fund for Fine and Performing Arts of The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee. Additional funding support has been provided by Scott & Lynn Jensen, Melinda Kelly-Major and David & Marianne Straka.

Performances run March 9 through March 31 on Fridays at 6:00pm and Saturdays at 2:00pm and 6:00pm.

Tickets are $25 (adults) and $15 (ages 13 and under) and may be reserved online at www.roxyregionaltheatre.org, by phone at (931) 645-7699, or at the theatre during regular box office hours (9:00am to 2:00pm, Monday through Friday, and one hour prior to curtain).
