Murfreesboro's Center for the Arts to Present SHREK, 1/10-26
The Center for the Arts will stage the popular "Shrek, the Musical" weekends Jan. 10-26.
Based on the 2001 DreamWorks film "Shrek" and William Steig's 1990 book of the same name, "Shrek the Musical" features such familiar characters as the ogre Shrek, Princess Fiona, Donkey, Dragon, Lord Farquaad and Pinocchio, among others.
The musical ran for more than a year on Broadway until January 2010 and has been on national tour several times. In Murfreesboro, performers will range from age 8-18, and be directed by Center favorites Matthew Hayes Hunter, book; Emily Dennis, music; and Hayley Orozco, dance.
Curtain is at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and at 2 p.m. for matinees Saturdays and Sundays. Ticket prices range from $11-$15.
There also will be a luncheon and interaction with Shrek characters at 12:30 p.m. before each Saturday matinee. The luncheon cost is $8. For reservations or more information, call 615 904-2787, go to boroarts.org or visit the Center at 110 W. College St.
