Kenny Rogers to perform with Nashville Symphony 2/5/2010

By:

Country and pop music icon Kenny Rogers is the latest addition to the Nashville Symphony's 2009/10 concert season as the Symphony announces a special performance with Rogers at Schermerhorn Symphony Center on Friday, February 5, 2010, at 8 p.m. The concert will be Rogers' first-ever appearance with the orchestra.

Recently recognized at the ACM Honors Ceremony at the Schermerhorn in September, Rogers has amassed one of the most impressive recording careers across all genres, selling more than 105 million records worldwide and becoming the 8th best-selling male recording artist of all time. With such beloved hits as "Lady," "We've Got Tonight" and "Islands in the Stream," his #1 smash duet with Dolly Parton, Rogers has enjoyed unparalleled success in both country and pop. He has also become known and respected as an actor on TV and in movies, including his starring role in the TV miniseries based on his hit song, "The Gambler."

"To hear someone of Kenny's caliber and renown backed by a GRAMMY Award®-winning orchestra in one of the premier symphony halls in the nation is something special," said Jim Mancuso, Vice President of Artistic Administration for the Symphony. "We are thrilled to have this legendary performer join us on stage at the Schermerhorn."

Tickets for Kenny Rogers ($37.50-$107.50) go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. on Friday, November 6, and may be purchased via the Symphony's website, NashvilleSymphony.org, or by calling the Symphony Center Box Office at 615.687.6400.
