Kandace Christian plays Margaret Mitchell - who created one of the biggest and best novels of the 20th Century with Gone With the Wind - in a one-actor play called Mrs. John Marsh, to be performed Thursday, March 17, at the public library in Franklin, Tennessee.

Written by Atlanta playwright Melita Easters, the play is based upon Mitchell's letters and interviews. Mrs. John Marsh is directed by Jamie Cutler and is produced by Southern Writers Theatre.

Christian, who was Miss Mississippi 1992, now lives and teaches music in Franklin. She plays Mitchell in the production which marks the 75th anniversary of the publication of Gone With the Wind (originally published in 1936) and the sesquicentennial of the start of the Civil War.

One of the most popular books of all time, Gone With the Wind has sold more than 30 million copies worldwide. David O. Selznick's 1939 film adaptation of the book received 10 Academy Awards, was ranked sixth in the American Film Institute's 100 greatest American films of all time list released in 2007, and has sold more tickets in the U.S. than any other film in history.

The March 17 performance of Mrs. John Marsh is free and open to the public at the Williamson County Public Library, located at 1314 Columbia Avenue, Franklin. For further details about the performance, call (615) 595-1250.
