Advance timed tickets for The Birth of Impressionism: Masterpieces from the Musée d'Orsay, opening Oct. 15, 2010, at the Frist Center for the Visual Arts, are now on sale at www.fristcenter.org (additional charges apply), through the advance ticket call center (866-683-4978) and on site at the Frist Center for the Visual Arts in downtown Nashville.  Tickets to The Birth of Impressionism also include admission to Chihuly at the Frist.

The Birth of Impressionism will be on view through Jan. 23, 2011, and Chihuly at the Frist will be on view through Jan. 2, 2011.

The Frist Center is one of only three venues, worldwide, to host this magnificent exhibition from the Musée' d'Orsay in Paris, which is dedicated to the art of the early modern period (1840s through the early 20th century). The exhibition, which includes 100 works (including 17 that will be seen only in Nashville), includes paintings by Gustave Courbet, Édouard Manet, Paul Cézanne, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Adolphe-William Bouguereau, Edgar Degas, Henri Fantin-Latour and James Abbott McNeill Whistler, whose 1871Arrangement in Gray and Black, No. 1: Portrait of the Painter's Mother (often called Whistler's Mother), will be on view in the exhibition.

Thursday and Friday evenings from 5:00-9:00 p.m., college students with ID will be admitted for $5.00.  Group reservations can be made by calling the Group Tour Coordinator at (615) 744-3247.
