LITTLE WOMEN, The Broadway Musical Sings Its Way to Centrepointe Theatre From February 1st to 11th, Ottawa's Ain't Seen Noth'n Yet (ASNY) Productions will bring the musical version of Louisa May Alcott's infamous and timeless novel "Little Women" to the Centrepointe Studio stage. With the book by Allan Knee, music by Jason Howland, and lyrics by Mindi Dickstein, Little Women, the Broadway Musical features an all-Ottawa cast of 24 musical theatre performers in a 10 performance run that includes 4 matinee performances for students and families.

Produced around the globe, Little Women, the Broadway Musical has been praised by critics for its ambition in adapting such a well-known story for the stage. This captivating story is brought to life in a musical filled with personal discovery, heartache, hope and everlasting love. In ASNY's production, audiences will experience a creatively staged production filled with laughter, tears and a lifting of the spirit.

It's no coincidence that ASNY's Artistic Director, Jennifer Fontaine, engaged an all-female directing team to lead this production. "It's powerful and timely to be presenting a full-scale production that features a famous female literary figure at its core, who questions why women cannot enjoy the same freedoms as men," says Fontaine. "For more than a century, Alcott's novel has inspired countless women-including myself-to push boundaries and dare to dream beyond what is expected of us. There's little bit of Jo March in us all."

Louisa May Alcott was a prolific writer producing more than two hundred stories, sketches, poems, and serials. According to the New York Public Library, Little Women was first published in two volumes (1868 and 1869). It was later published in one combined novel in 1880 and has never been out of print. Little Women has been adapted numerous times for TV, film, and the stage and an operatic version was recorded in 2000.
