February 19 & 20, 26 & 27, March 5 & 6 8pm

Lila Michael performs The Queen of Bakersfield & other tales of dust and moonlight, a one-woman show featuring monologues and original songs by her husband Greg Owens, at the Equinox Theatre Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm Feb. 19 - March 5.

This collection of monologues and original songs, directed by Will Dickerson and featuring music by Rob Eastman, is a humorous and powerful evening of theatrical storytelling that has Michael inhabiting and depicting a range of characters, including demolition derby drivers, pro wrestling school drop-outs, and other ragged dreamers.
"The Queen of Bakersfield... offers a welcome return to the American folk tradition of storytelling... the stories themselves and the telling of them in the Queen of Bakersfield make for exciting theater: an evening that looms larger than life." (Gabrielle Kaplan, CHICAGO READER)

Equinox Theatre is at 2304 N. 7th Ste C-1 across the street from Murdoch's. Show time is 8pm. Tickets are $12 each and are available by calling 587-0737 Ext. 1. Reservations are recommended.
